Today, on the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, we pause to remember.
We give thanks for the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who stood against tyranny, and we honour the memory of all who lost their lives in the struggle for peace.
We are a church rooted in the liberal Christian tradition, we reflect not only on the end of war but on the enduring call to be peacemakers — to shape a world where justice, compassion, and reconciliation take root.
In remembering the past, we renew our commitment to a future shaped by service to others, the dignity of every human life, and the love that overcomes fear and division.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” — Matthew 5:9
May we walk in their memory, and in hope.
